Mao in the Age of Mechanical reproduction


The glorious politician and theoretician of guerrilla warfare Mao Tse-tung has been portrayed with his favorite strategy. Artist has created a new portrait of Mao  modelling on the iconic Andy Warhol’s portrait.  Artist Joe Black has created this portrait by hand-painted 9,000 plastic figurines by arranged them on the ground for a project. Artist has taken five months to complete the portrait .


In this mega-portrait all of the soldiers face inward towards the center of Chairman Mao’s face to symbolize the army of followers he had during his reign.The 215cm by 310cm piece will be exhibited in a show  Urban Masters in Opera Gallery in London.
